Show BPW Club honors woman of the year The Vernal BPW club honored Ora Fay Oviatt as Woman of the Year, Thursday evening at a dinner at the Aspen Cove. Amy Lube played some piano selections selec-tions as the guests arrived. Lucille Lip-phardt, Lip-phardt, local club president welcomed guests and members. State BPW President Presi-dent Joyce Longhurst and Vice President Presi-dent Shirley Johnson had traveled from the Salt Lake City area to join in the evenings activities. Pat Gabbitas sang two numbers accompanied by Amy Lube' on the Piano. Rhoda DeVed led the group in the clubs' collect before dinner. Mrs. Oviatt introduced her family members that were in attendance. They included her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Wardlet, husband, Clark, and older daughter, Marjean. Mrs. Oviatt expressed her gratitude for having this honor given to her by the club. Betty Zeller read the news article about Mrs Oviatt telling of some of her many accomplishments. ac-complishments. Lucille Lipphardt presented Mrs. Oviatt with the marble Niki that is part of the clubs emblem. The Niki is a headless figure of a woman who symbolizes all women and their accomplishments. This story was related by Ethel Bowden. ,. Betty Zeller presented a dried flower arrangement to Mrs. Oviatt that was donated by Kay Gotfredson and Alice White. President Longhurst and Shirley Johnson, V.P., both expressed that they were glad to be included in the evenings activities and thought the choice of Mrs. Oviatt as winner of the award to be a good one. There were 25 members and guests in attendance. Hostesses for the evening were Pearl Shaffer and Betty Zeller. |
