Show TUNGSTEN FOUND NEAR WINNEMUCCA Properties Reported to Have Beached Producing Stage; Shipments Expected Soon. The tungsten deposits located at the north end of the east range, near iRose creek, about twenty-five miles southwest from Winnemucca, have reached the producing pro-ducing stage and in a few days shipments ship-ments will be going out. The ore is to be shipped to Toulon, near Lovelock, where It will be concentrated and the product sent to the east to be used in the manufacture manu-facture of steel. It was stated that the ore was sheelite. The principal properties in the camp are owned by James Edmunds and John Buchanan and they have a group of five claims. The development so rar accomplished accom-plished was for prospecting purposes and consists of a shaft forty feet deep and a number of surface openings. In speaking of the property, Mr. Edmunds stated that there were a number of veins showing show-ing tungsten ore and that one ledge in particular showed a width of fourteen feet. A general sampling of the property gave results up to as high as 7 per cent tungstic acid. Mr. Edmunds says that there are at least two carloads of ore already on the dumps and ready to be hauled to the railroad. The ore in all probability will be shipped from Bannon switch on the Southern Pacific, which is considerably nearer than Rose Creek station. sta-tion. However, either place Is only a comparatively short haul. Last week Mr. Edmunds was at Toulon and made arrangements with the reduction reduc-tion people there for the milling of the ore, and he says extraction and shipments ship-ments will start as soon as arrangements can be made for the aggressive working of the property and building a short stretch of road. Among a number of others who have located claims in the camp - is William Hustin. He states that he has some claims there well located and that openings open-ings he has made on them show tungsten ore of good grade. Humboldt Star. |
