Show PAY OF EMPLOYEES GOES TO RED CROSS Salaries of Walker Brothers Dry Goods Company's Help on Decoration Day to Be Used Patriotically. The Red Cross society will receive the entire Decoration day pay of the employees em-ployees of the Walker Brothers' Dry Goods company. This patriotic decision was announced at a meeting of employees em-ployees in the store yesterday morning. "If tiiia same spirit were manifested by employees of all institutions which, pay their employees on that day. even though it be a holiday, the total sum of money thus donated would greatly extend the activities ac-tivities of the Red Cross movement," remarked re-marked O. D. Coughlin, who had charge of the meeting. Instead of opening at the usual time for business yesterday morning, the employees em-ployees of the store assembled in the linen department and listened to a stirring address ad-dress by W. W. Ray. United States district dis-trict attorney. The doors of the store being be-ing open, customers were directed to the meeting and at once entered Into the spirit of the occasion. Reports were also read by F. H. Miller, chairman of the war gardens committee, and by Mrs. L. Cowburn, secretary of the war society committee, who stated that splendid progress prog-ress was being made in the war pavings movement and also in the war savings while Mrs. Waller reported on Red Cross activities. The audience sang "America" and "The Star-Spangled Banner." th piano accompanist being Mrs. R. W. Halsett. |
