Show LARGE OBSTACLE TO PAVING HAS ARISEN Attitude of State Board May Prevent Big Improvement Planned at Ogden. Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, May 14. The plans of Og-den City to pave the east side of Washington Washing-ton avenue from the river bridge to the north city limits this year, and the west side ol the street next year, may not be carried out, according" to the report made to the board of commissioners today by Josepn Tracy, city engineer, who was in conference with the state highway officials of-ficials at Salt Lake yesterday. The city engineer reported' that the state commissioners said they were willing wil-ling to share one-half of the expense for the paving of the east side of the street this year, but that they would not share the other half next year. The first report re-port received by the commissioners of the city gave them the impression that the highway commission would share a portion por-tion of the expense for the paving of both sides of the street. It was suggested at first that the east side of the street be paved this year and the west side next year. If the highway commission would pay 50 per cent of the expense of the east side and none of the expense of the west side, the city is of the opinion that it would be unfair to Lhe property owners on the west side of the street, who would have a greater burden than those on the opposite side of the street. |
