Show APPEAL FOR LOYALTY. The League for National Unity has sent an appeal to congressional leaders of both parties to get together and prevent pre-vent the election of disloyal senators and representatives at the November election, by combining their forces in districts and states where there is any danger that a disloyalist may succeed in being returned to office. There is only one Socialist in the house of representatives, repre-sentatives, Meyer London, and we are not certain he can be defeated t by a combination of Republicans and Democrats Demo-crats in the New York district where he resides. La Follette, the only senator sena-tor charged with disloyalty, does not have to go before the people of Wisconsin Wiscon-sin this fall, for his term of office does not expire until 1921. A senate committee com-mittee is investigating his case, however, how-ever, and it may be he will be compelled com-pelled to purge himself of the charge some time next winter. It is well to be on guard, but it will be a very difficult dif-ficult matter for a disloyal man to obtain ob-tain either a Republican or Democratic nomination "for senator or representative representa-tive at the coming primaries or conventions. con-ventions. It will be absolutely impossible impos-sible in Utah, and we do not desire to cast reflections upon the patriotism or loyalty of the people of any other commonw"ealth. Yet it is the duty of all to keep close watch and be ready to act at the polls. |
