Evidence of the readiness with which the citizeng of Sat Lake will respond to the appeal for funds to carry forward the noble work of the Red Cross is accumulating accumulat-ing hourly. One instance is to be noted in the action of the employees of Walker's store, who yesterday morning, at an. enthusiastic en-thusiastic meeting, voted unanimously to donate their Decoration day pay to the Red Cross cause. WOMEN WILL PLAY BIG PART IN DUE Plans for Participation in Raising Big Fund Take Definite Shape. In the great drive of the American Red Cross, which opens next Monday morning, to raise In one week the sum of $100,000,-000 $100,000,-000 for war work purposes, the women of , the United States and particularly the women of Utah will be active and important im-portant factors in the work. As in the securing of subscriptions to the third Liberty Lib-erty loan, Utah's promptitude in getting "over the top" was largely due to the indefatigable in-defatigable zeal and tactful efforts on the part of the army of women that assisted in the work, so, in the minds of the state executive committee, will the efforts of the women be absolutely indispensable to bring Utah to the fore in the raising of her portion of the great sum, of which Utah is to secure $500,000 and Salt Lake county $.315,000. Yesterday r.oon, at the Commercial club, the executive committee of women, of which Mrs. W. F. Adams is chairman, met and discussed at length plans for the participation by the women in the campaign. cam-paign. Appointments of chairmen of the various committees were made and the chairman of each committee will appoint her own committee of workers to assist. The divisions enumerated show the breadth of the r.ians and the thoroughness with which the women expect to accomplish accom-plish their work. Widtsoe; L. D. S. women's organizations, organiza-tions, Mrs. John V. Brown; churches, Mrs. Louis Simon: store booths, Mrs. Dudley Bailey; department store employees, Mrs. F. M. Parker; hotels, Mrs. W. Mont Ferry; street booths. Mrs. W. p. Kiser; theater booths, Clarissa Beesley. Women of the foreign population, Mrs. M. K. Parsons; Par-sons; women's clubs, Mrs. F. W. Meakin. Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock, at the Commercial club, these chairmen and ttie memhers of their committees to be appointed ap-pointed in the meantime will hold a meeting meet-ing for the further discussion of their |
