Show RAIL FORCE WORKS UPON RATE SHEETS Oregon Short Line Men Preparing Now Schedules, in Accordance With Advanced Tariffs. Forces in the operating department of the Oregon Short Line are busy at work preparing new freight ami passenger rate sheets, in accordance with the general order of Director General McAdoo advancing freight rates 21 per cent and raising passenger passen-ger rates to a basis of .'i cents a mile. It is pointed out by the railroad officials of-ficials that the government has had the information in rates before it for some time, but its action in establishing establish-ing the new basis of freight and passenger pas-senger rates was not hinted to the railroads rail-roads until the formal announcement was made, and now it is the duty of the roads to get out their new rate sheets by the time the order goes iny effect. The new order does not change rates where they are now 3 cents a mile or more.
