EMBERS of the War Work depot organization of the Red Cross sold flowers and potted plants yesterday from the booths which were used for the recent mercy fund drive. DONATING their time after business busi-ness hours, ten young women connected con-nected with the arts department of a Salt Lake mercantile house, knitted a "patchwork" quilt which has been sold for $171.50. The money has been contibuted to the Red Cross war fund. Led by the head of their department, Miss H. Suhler. the young women began knitting patches six inches square for the quilt about a month ago. Daily they have devoted hours of endeavor to this effort, completing the work during the present week. Yarns of all colors, donated do-nated by the firm by which the young women are employed, have been used in making up the quilt. Each patch is separately sepa-rately attached, and in the center, basted on the top, is a representation in yarn of the Stars and Stripes, while near each corner is the Insignia of the Red Cross organization. The quilt measures five feet by six feet. The yarn used in its manufacture manu-facture has a wholesale cost of $32.50. The .young women are Miss E. Boeh-ner. Boeh-ner. Miss E. Treasure, Miss H.
