Show ILLINOIS CENTRAL PRESIDENT RESIGNS NI0W YORK, May 29. Charles H. Markham resigned today as president and director of the Illinois Central railroad. C. A. Peabody was elected president in his place, but the vacancy on the board of directors was not filled. Mr Markham resigned to become reKlonal director of railroads in the Alle-Klienv Alle-Klienv district, it was announced at the company's office. He previously had been regional director of the southeastern dls- trcharles A. Peabody. the new president of the road, is a New York lawyer and president of the Mutual Life Insurance company. lie is -said lo represent the Harrlman estate and Astor Interests in the Illinois Central. About ten years aso. when Stuyvesant Fish retired from the presidency of the Illinois Central. Mr. Peabody was elected president, and subsequently became chairman chair-man ot the executive committee. |
