Show POPE-MI TO . 8IWRL1E Contract Closed and Machinery Ma-chinery Ordered; Big Development Planned. Preparatory to beginning development on a big scale, the Pope-Shenon company, operating in the Salmon River country, has closed a contract for the construction of a nine-mile power line and has purchased pur-chased a considerable quantity of new machinery. The construction of the power line is to be started immediately and all machinery and materials are to be delivered de-livered at once. Even copper wire, which is almost as rare as precious metals just now, is to be turned over to the company within seven days, according to the terms of the contract. The Pope-Shenon has developed ore in five tunnels and proved the ore body for a distance of about 1000 feet. During the past few months work has been concentrated con-centrated on the lowest tunnel. Some exceedingly ex-ceedingly high-grade copper ore was encountered en-countered about two months ago and about one carload taken out In the course of development which is believed to carry an average of 25 per cent or better. It is planned by the management to continue the development in the lower workings and keep high-grade shipments moving to market, but it is believed that ultimately the construction of a mill will be necessary to the economical operation of the property. For some time past the company's engineers have been working on a milling process for the treatment of the ores, and it is probable that some definite plans concerning the construction 'of the plant will be announced in tbe near future. Immense tonnages of milling-grade milling-grade ore are reported to have been developed de-veloped in the various tunnels, but the most important ore bodies are expected to be disclosed by the work in the lowest funnel. |
