The United States government views with "earnest sympathy" the nationalistic aspirations of the Czecho-Slovaks and the Jugo-Slavs, Secretary Lansing said today. The secretary's announcement was taken as an indorsement of the resolutions resolu-tions adopted by the congress which met in Rome in April to discuss the liberation libera-tion of "the oppressed nationalities of Austria-Hungary." These resolutions declared that each of the peoples proclaimed its rigiit to establish estab-lish its own nationality and state unity; that each recognized in the Austro-Hun-garian monarchy "the instrument of German Ger-man domination." and that each recognized recog-nized the necessity for "a common struggle strug-gle against the common oppressor." Another session of the congress will be held in Paris in June. |
