Show Daredevils of Auto-Racing World Will Meet at Sheepshead Bay Today ! 1 7Z 'OLD3JBJD Champions, Old and New, Entered for Great 100-Mile 100-Mile Handicap. CHAMPIONS, old and new, wdll face the starter at the Sheepshead Bay speedway today when the field lines up for the Harkness handicap, a mad dash over the 100-mile route. This will be the feature event of a speed carnival that will inaugurate the automobile auto-mobile racing season. This event promises to eclipse the events of former years, as many of the world's greatest drivers are entered. Louis Chevrolet, winner of the Harkness trophy last year, negotiated the "century" "cen-tury" at the rate of 110.4 miles an hour, a record for the Sheepshead Speedway track. Barney Oldfield, the dean of race drivers, driv-ers, is making his farewell tour this season, sea-son, and has pledged himself to make this the most successful in his long and eventful career, covering seventeen seasons sea-sons in the championship division. Ira Vail, practically a youngster in the racing game, is fast building a reputation reputa-tion as a long-distance driver', and therefore there-fore stands a good chance of winning the 100-mile event. Dario Resta, winner of many long-distance races, wili also be a starter. Arthur Duray, the European champion and world's speed king, is on his way from France to participate in the event. Duray hold the world's record average of 147 miles, an hour. CITY SCHOOL KIDDOS TO CELEWE FRIDAY Elaborate Program of Exercises Exer-cises and Sports at I Liberty Park. The annual field day of the city public schools is to be celeFrated in Liberty park tomorrow. The events of the day will begin at 9:30 o'clock in the morning' and continue until after 5 o'clock in the evening, with a noon intermission. Supervision of all activities will be exercised ex-ercised by the board of athletic control, the members of which are William Bradford, Brad-ford, chrairman; Mark C. Brown, Delia Pendleton, Oscar "Van Cott, J. H- Coombs, W. J. McCoy and W. S. Rawlings.
