The application for the permit came before the commission on a motion offered of-fered the day before by Commissioner Herman H. Green and held over. It proposed pro-posed that tho permit be granted -with tho requirement that all improvements made should be in lino with full fire prevention requisites. Is Vigorously Opposed. Do the argumonts of representatives of the theater that the building would be safer when improved, Commissioner Scheid answered that such would not be the case, in view of tho proposed change of use. He pointed out that the rate of hazard fixed by insurance authorities on theaters having stages is as 200 per cent to 75 per cent of the key rate. Objections Set Out. The proposed improvements would have made the stage equal to the ordinance ordi-nance demands for fire protection, with a fireproof proscenium arch and a?S tos curtain 'shutting it off from the aiiv ditorium, and other requisites. But the K roof would have been left as it is, as would also the wooden floor of the au-ditorium. au-ditorium.
