Griffiths, who since 1912 has! been supervisor of playgrounds in Salt I Lake, has hr.nded in his resignation, j and it has been accepted by H. H. j Green, commissioner of parks and pub-1 lie property, according to information given out by Mr. Griffiths yesterday. Mr. Griffiths offered no reason for : his resignation, but expressed approval ! of the plan to make an exhaustive survey sur-vey of the recreational conditions in Salt Lake and iilso a willingness to aid those making the survey. Since Mr. Griffiths took charge of the playgrounds the number of grounds has increased from two to eight nod the number of directors, including Mr. Griffiths, from four to twenty-one. There was only one trimming pool in .11)12, as against five at tho present time. In addition to this development, the playgrounds move men t ha been given a year-around direction, winter sports, such as skating, supplementing t no warm-wcaiher activities.
