The fait Lake chapter of the Ed Cross is doing its share in preparing for a possible clash between this country and Germany, it was announced yesterday yester-day by E. 0. Howard, -.banker, and chairman of the executive committee of the Salt Lake, chapter. "We have some difinite plans for an iucrease in the membership of the Bed Cross in Salt Lake," Mr. Howard said last niffht. "They aro not quite ready to be made public, but will be shortly. I can say, however, that we will soon make announcement of the plans by which we hope to increase the membership member-ship by several thousand. " Miss Kate Williams, secretary of the local chapter, is supervising the work' of several hundred women members of the Red Cross in Salt Lake, who are busy making dressings and bandages. There is considerable interest in the Red Cross work in other towns of the state, Miss Williams said last night. Inquiries coming com-ing in every day as to the. steps necessary neces-sary for the organization of a chapter of . the Red Cross. Miss Williams also urges the necessity for an increase in the membership of the Red Cross, explaining that it is through membership fees that the organizations or-ganizations secure the funds with which to purchase the materials for dressings and bandages. Miss Williams's headquarters head-quarters are with the Charity Organization Organiza-tion society, 120 East First South street, where most of the work is now being done, except that which is being done in the homes of Salt Lake women and. at the sewing clubs, ("lasses in tho making mak-ing of dressings and bandages are conducted con-ducted at the headquarters.
