In what was sips one of the most successful cele-f cele-f ions of the ktnd ever held in this part fihe state, Fairvlew yesterday paid nor to her soldiers , who but recently turned from the Mexican border. In the afternoon a public meeting was ..eld. In the evening, in the high school gymnasium, a banquet was served to about 250 guests. H. M. Rasmussen acted as toastmaster and was responded to in behalf of the guests by J. W. Cherry. Short talks were also given by Mayor John L. Bench. Jr.. Ewen O. Nielson, Dr. J. R. Anderson and James W. Christianson. after which the guests were called to their feet by the toastmaster, who asked them to join him in drinking a toast to "The American Soldier.'' After the banquet a ball was given in the Eclipse pavilion, which was crowded to its capacity. Tine following were on the committee: H. M. Rasmussen. Swen O. Nielson. H. P. Hanson, Charles Peacock and B. S. Sanderson. |
