Show POLITICAL PRISONERS LEAVING SIBERIA ARE CHEERED BY CITIZENS LONDON. March 22. A Petrograd dispatch dis-patch to Reuters says that political prisoners pris-oners released from the Hertchinsk prison pris-on in Siberia have arrived at Chita . where they were given a bis reception and welcomed by military bands. Among the prisoners was Maria Ppiridonovo, who was carried through the stieets on the shoulders of the crowd. Maria Spiridonovo is the daughter of a Russian general, who shot and killed Chief of Police Luzhenoffsky of Tambov in 1918. She. was sentenced "to death, but the sentence was commuted to twenty years' imprisonment. While in ,1all site was terribly tortured by two police officers, offi-cers, who for eleven hours kicked her back and forth across her cell, tore her hair and burned her flesh with lighted cigarettes. Both of her torturers were afterward murdered. |
