Show M'GREGOR WILL CASE IS FINALLY SETTLED Contest Over Estate of Former Salt Lake Mining Man Conies to an End. Dispatches from Terre Haute, Ind., yesterday announced that litigation over the estate of James McGregor, the Salt Lake mining man, who bequeathed $50,-000 $50,-000 to the University of Utah, had ended. The suit brought in the Indiana city by McGregor's half-brother, in an effort "to break the will, was settled out of court. The settlement does not affect the bequest to the University of Utah. Mr. McGregor's will provided $50,000 for the university's school of mines. Mr. McGregor committed suicide in Terre ! Haute in July, 1013, and immediately Alexander McGregor, a half-brother, begRu suit to break the will. The University Uni-versity of Utah insured its share of the bequest, however, by relinquishing claim 'for a small fraction of the $50,000 and 'making an immediate settlement. The mining man's will cut the half-brother half-brother off with $1,000. By the terms of the settlement effected yesterday, Alexander McGregor receives $10,300 and an annuity of $2000. A guardian has been appointed by the court to look after his affairs. James McGregor, besides remembering remember-ing the University of , Utah in his will, bequeathed $100,000 as an endowment fund for the education of worthy young people in Vigo county, Ind.; $75,000 to the Rose Polytechnic institute, Terre Haute, and $50,000 to the Union hospital in Terre Haute. |
