Show WOULD MOVE TRACK. Street Car Line In Provo Said to Be Losing Money. Special to The Tribune. PROVO, Nov. 9. At the regular session ses-sion of the city commission today Manager Man-ager W. K. Armstrong- of the Salt Iake & Utah Railroad company made a proposition propo-sition to take up the track of the road on Third West street, from Center to Sixth South street, and move It onto Academy avenue for the extension of the A cademy avenue track north through Pleasant View and on to Olms tead, at the. mouth of Provo canyon. Air. Armstrong; sta ted that the company com-pany was losing from $127 to $r;05 each month in the operation of the street railway and that, in his opinion, it would take many years to make the svstein pay. The company contemplates the extension exten-sion of its line to Olmstead, said Mr. Armstrong, where. It is believed, a summer sum-mer resort would be established If street car connection could be made between Provo and ;the mouth of the canyon. The commiy.sionevs took the matter under advisement ad-visement until Thursday. A petition from the knifrht Investment company and other property owners on the north side of Center street, between Academy avenue and First East street, asking that the unpaved portion in the center of the street be paved at the cost of the property owners and protesting against the proposed parking of the street, was received. The matter was referred to Commissioner I,e Rov Dixon. |
