Show SLAYER SURRENDERS AFTER MANY YEARS Benjamin A. Miller, 80 Years Old, Confesses Con-fesses to Murder of Missouri Town Marshal. SPRINGFIELD, 111-, Nov. 9. In 1879 .James Kirlin was shot and hilled at Kivorton, near here. Benjajnin A. Miller, Mil-ler, the town marshal, was indicted for the murder, but fled and was never apprehended. Todav the authorities re-ccived re-ccived from T. J. Do Witt, sheriff of Jena, La., the following telegram: An aged man, giving the name of Benjamin Miller, surrendered to me today, saying he is wanted for the murder of dames Kirlin in Rivor-ton Rivor-ton thirty-four years ago. He tells me that he is near death and for yea rs has been a hu nted animal, fleeing the justice thai would overtake over-take him for the killing of Kirlin if he should be arrested. He says he can stand the strain no longer and I am holding him until I hear from you. Miller, who is nearly SO years old, 'will be brought back to stand trial. The shooting followed an attempt by Miller to stop Kirlin from firing a gun on the streets. |
