Show JAMES RINTOUL IS DEAD IN PORTLAND James P. Rinloul, a newspaper man of this city, living at S32 Plerpont avenue, ave-nue, received telegraphic word last evening even-ing of the death of his father, James Ttintoul. 92 years of age, in Portland, Ore. Mr. Rinloul was a pioneer manufacturer manu-facturer of Oregon. A native of Scotland Scot-land he emigrated to America In 1800. making his home for a short time in Tloscburg, Ore., where he built a woolen fuclory. The entire factory was destroyed de-stroyed by a Hood soon after it was In operation and Mr. TUntoul accepted a position as assistant manager of a mill at Oregon City. He had been In poor health for several years and his death had been expected for some time. In addition to his widow ho Is survived bv two sons and a daughter. They are J. P. rtlntoul of this city and Andrew P. Ttintoul and Mrs. .Tamos Denholm of Portland, Mr Rintoul of this city visited his father fa-ther last June. Tlla wife again visited tho aged man at his home in Oregon at the beginning of the present year. Ho was very feeble at both times. He retired re-tired from active life some years ago and his death was felt to be the simple closing of a well-rounded caroer. Because Be-cause of the fact that he could not reach his father's homo In time to attend at-tend tho funeral Friday afternoon Mr. Rinloul will not go to Portland at this time. |
