Show FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH P-M-E CARS Washington Avenue I?atrons of Rapid transit Line to. Be Initiated. ' t Special to The Tribune. OGDEN, Fob. 18. According to an announcement an-nouncement by Superintendent P. D. KHno, the first pay-as-you-enter street, car to bo placed In service by the Ogden Rapid Transit company will make its initial in-itial appearance on tho Washington avenue ave-nue line Thursday morning. This oar is one of tho older types which has been remodeled to conform with the "p-a-y-e" requirements. Other cars of the new type will bo placed In service as soon as they arc turned out of tho shops. The same requirements which are enforced en-forced where these cars have peen in use for many yean? past will be observed in Ogden Passengers must pay their fare upon boarding the car at the Tear platform plat-form and all passengers arc required to leave the car by the front platform. Tho "p-a-y-c" cats have no partitions between be-tween platforms and main portlqn, and for this reason no passengers are allowed to stand on the platforms. This arrangement arrange-ment makes It necessary to prohibit smoking on board the new type car. The six new pay-as-you-enter cars ordered or-dered by the Ogden Rapid .Transit company com-pany will not arrive In the city for thirty days. In tho meantime a majority of the cars in service nt present will have been remodeled to' the new- type. |
