Utah woolgrowors who refused to sell, and who have held their wool, now have cause for felf-congratulatlon, according to Charles 13. Stewart, secretary of the Utah State "Woolgrowors" association. Mr. Stewart says that growers who wore unsuccessfully un-successfully templed lo Hell their clips for 15 cenls a pound will welcome news that came yesterday from the National AVool Warchoiiso & Storngo company of .Boston, .Bos-ton, Mass. Tho dispatch follows: Tt Is reported hero that about half of the Nevada wool clip has been contracted for at an average of 135 cents per pound and that a large proportion pro-portion of the Utah wool clip has been contracted for at frorii 12 to 10 cents per pound, and that, somo triangle tri-angle wools have been contracted for at 16 cents. Some contracting has been done In Montana at 1G1 cents. Tho eastern markets are practically bare and the prices here are as high as the imported wools, with somo grades higher. Manufacturers aro buying foreign wools freely on. account ac-count of the lack of domestic supply. sup-ply. Probably not in twenty years has tho market been ho well sold up. Foreign markets are all higher. About thirty American buyers will lcavo In a few days for the London sales. No doubt, London prices will be forced higher through their efforts to obtain supplies for use before tlua western wools arrive. We 'believe that tho amount of the domestic clip will be so much less than Inst year's clip that this fact alone Justifies the expectation, of higher prices than last season. Advise all woolgrowors in your neighborhood. |
