Show LOS ANGELES MINING CLUB BEING FORMED Los Angeles is to make a strong bid for closer relationship with tho mining interests of Nevada, Arizona, Mexico, California,' Now Moxico and, in fact, the entiro West, and with that object in view is now forming a strong social club indorsed by the heaviest mining interests in-terests in the city. Preliminary work shows a large field to draw from, and it is expected that the institution will bo nblo to throw its doors open within the next three months with a resident membership of at least 250, and a non-resident list of as many more. The president of tho Republic of Mexico and tho governors of Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, Montana, New Mexico, Texan and Utah will bo offered honorary membership, mem-bership, whilo such well known men as John Hays Hammond, F. Augustus Hoinze, D. C. Jackling, Senator Nixon, Gcorgo Wingfield, John If. Mackenzie, Samuel Ncwhouse, Spencer Penrose. John Finch, Charles M. McNeill, David Keith, A. Chester Beatty, Donald B. Gillies, Senator Guggonheini, Senator Kcarus, Malcolm . L. Macdouald and many others of tho samo class have been invited to becomo members. Locally, great interest is being taken in tho project, tho lead being taken b3' such men as Sccloy W. Mudd, formerly with tho Guggenheims; A. E. Montgomery, Mont-gomery, of the Montgomery-Shoshone and Skidoo mines; J. Jj. Boyle, vice-president vice-president of tho Los Angeles-Nevada stock exchange; C. E. Finney, formerly connected with tho American Smelting & Refining company; L. C. Dillman of Copper River, Alaska; George Mitchell of the Mitchell Mining company; J. Ross Clark, vice-president of the Salt Lake railroad: Hulctt C. Mcrritt, former associate of John D. Rockefeller in tho Mesaba iron range; M. J. Monuette of the Hayes & Monnetto lease of Gold-field: Gold-field: Joseph L. Giroux, president of tho Giroux Copper company; Clawson & Gillingham, mining engineers, for man3' vears with the Copper Queen mine; "Lycurgus Lindsay, who mado a fortune in Cananca; Joan Singleton of the Yellow Aster; Lucian Eaves, Eaves Engineering company; A. D. Myers, "Father of Goldfield"; T. A. Johnson, R. A. Perez, R-. S. Baverstock, William Warr, Carl F. Schadcr and many others. Sidney Norman, mining editor of tho Los Angeles Times, is acting as tempo-rary tempo-rary Becrotary, and askB, through theso columns, the co-operation of mining men of this district. Applications for membership mem-bership sent in now will bo filed until such timo as tho amount of initiation feo and dues have been decided upon. Tho charter membership will be restricted restrict-ed to 250. Membership will bo open to all mining and oil operators and those who are in sympathy with tho fostering of tho legitimato industry on broad lines. |
