Show THINK CHILDREN'S DAY SHOULD BE HOLIDAY Considerable dissatisfaction is being expressed bv the retail dealers throughout through-out tho city because of the proclama tion by Govcruor Culler naming last Wednesday as a holidav and asking the dealors to closn on that dav, and on Friday having "Childrens day." From tho viewpoint of the tradesmen both dnj's should havo been combined in one, for ns business is usually brisk during dur-ing fair week, they would virluallv lose two days' business, for on Children's day business is practically at a standstill, stand-still, owing to the fact that the parents of the childrpii( accompany their offspring off-spring to tho fair on that day. As one merchant expressed it. "Make Children 's dav the holidav. and I have no doubt that every merchant would close, and in addition to that T havo every reason to believe thai Iho more-hauls would assist financially in the success of tho fair. It, is no more than right that we should have as many business busi-ness hours as possible during fair" week, when there aro so many out-of-town buyers in the citv." mmmm |
