Show INDIANA'S GOVERNOR I ATTACKS SALOON EVIL PUEBLO, Colo.. Ocl. 10. An irrepressible irre-pressible conflict wag the subject of nn address delivered by Governor Frank IIanly of Indiana, before a largo and enthusiastic audience nt the First Presbyterian Pres-byterian church tonight. Numerous times during ihe address tho audience broke out in enthusiastic annlause. Tho speaker attacked the existenco of the saloon and its evils, nnd told of the passago and enforcement of tempor-anco tempor-anco Inws in his stato. "Today the saloon knows no law. human or divine," he said. "It is desperately prepnrinir for anything in many states. Today it is preparing for the conflict of righteousness as against unrighteousness, the impact of which will shako tho nation. The liquor interest in-terest is but naming its Waterloo when it seeks to administer poverriment. "Men and women of Colorado, the nation needs men and women who will bear arms against the unrighteousness. She needs good men, not in heaven, but in Colorado. There is moro need of them in Colorado. Tbo trophv to be battled for is a stainless flag, ensign of a nation glorified. It has crcat resources re-sources nnd great wcalih. Tn every stato. the saloon men furnish little revenue rev-enue to defray the increased expense of running the government." Governor Ilanly's lecture was held under the auspices of tho anti-saloon league. |
