McDonald Mc-Donald Candy companj-, at 157 and 1G1 West Third South street, valued at $400. was accidcntnllj' shot in tho sido Thursday with a 22 caliber rifio, which was fired by Rex Mooro, son of Frank Mooro of 323 South First West street. Tho horso wais standing in a barn in the rear of the McDonald candj factory, fac-tory, and the Mooro boy stood on tho back veranda of his home shooting at sparrows. One of the bullets meant for a sparrow went through tho barn window win-dow and struck the horso in the right sido near the back rib. After it had been discovered that tho horso was injured, the matter was reported re-ported to tho police, and Officer Hornco Heath was detailed to locate tho guilty partj'. Heath on Saturday arrested four boys, Rex Mooro, who admitted doing tho shooting, Rov Jack, Saudj-Fowlor, Saudj-Fowlor, Jr., and Hcber Hardy. . , The threo last-named boj's were not implicated in the shooting, but wero known to own 22-caliber rifles with which thej- had been shooting sparrows in tho neighborhood of tho McDonald factorj'. Tho boys were released on their own recognizance, nnd the case will be turned over to tho juvenile court officers. The injured horso is not ablo to work, and it is not known vet whether or not it will have to be killed. A veterinarian veterinar-ian has probed for the bullet, but it could not bo located. |
