South Temple and Fourth East streets about noon Monday, Mon-day, partly wrecking both cars and giving giv-ing seventy-five or 100 passengers a severe se-vere shaking up and a bud fright. Wet rails caused tho rear-end collision. col-lision. Car '155, headed for Main streot. stopped at Foui:th East street to lot off passengers, with the sight seeing ;ar, heavily loaded, closely following it at a good rate of speed. Motorman ITadrich failed to talco into account the slippery condition of the rails, made wet by a sprinkling cart, and when he applied the brakes the locked wheels slid along tho track without affecting the momentum of the car. The window of car 455 and tho steps were broken and torn off while tho vestibule ves-tibule of the sight seeing car was reduced re-duced to kindling wood. Motorman TIadrich escaped fatal injury by jumping jump-ing back into his car when ho snw tho j collision was inevitable. Ho suffered a few cuts and contusions, while .fames J. Conyors of Chicago received an ugl' cut on tho knee. Both cars wero taken to the repair shop. No. '155 is one of the new cars. |
