Show INDIFFERENT- THRONG SEES WOMAN DROWN CHICAGO. July 13. While 200 men and boys sat or stood within ;i comparatively com-paratively few feet of her, and in sight of nearly J000 others, an unidcntiSod woman feli, or rolled purposely, from the north pier at the mouth of the Chicago Chi-cago river yesterday and drowned. Although Al-though she screamed repeatedly for assistance, as-sistance, not a hand in the crowd that watched her struggles in the water was lifted to save her. Tnstcad one of the gazors stole the woman's purse and hat. which she had placed on tho pier beside her, and lied. A half hour later the body was taken from the water by Captain Carlnnd and his men from the life saving station. The bod3 was neatly dressed. The woman apparently was 35 j-cars old, 5 foot -1 inches tall, with dark brown hair and hazel eyes, and weighed 105 pounds. |
