Show BUM TO BEGiNJXTENSlOH Will Build From Guernsey (o Thermopolis, Say Advices From Denver. $27,000,000 WILL BE EXPENDED ON WORK Possible That Line to Zion Is Partly Included in Estimate. . Advices from Dcnvor say thai the Burlington is soon lo begin building a new line of 200 miles through contrnl "Wyoming, from Guernsey lo Thermopolis, Thermopo-lis, which, when completed, will open to Denvor trade one of the richest and most rapidly developing agricultural territories of tho West, that of the Big Horn valley. Continuing lho dispatch says: "Tho building of this road is one of tho principal prin-cipal enterprises for which tho Burlington Bur-lington recently filed mortgages for $30,000,000. It is purposed to spend $27,000,000 in tho construction work, and to push it rapidly to completion. "Tho government is now spending sovcral millions of dollars in irrigating tho territor' adjacent lo the Big Horn river. There arc about 1,250,000 acres of land to be supplied with walor at onco, partly by the government and partly by private enterprises." Tins extension of tho Burlington has been much talked about, and it is in nil likelihood probable that construction work will begin in tho near future. But it will not cost :f:27,000,000 to build tho proposed 200 miles of railroad. It. is mora than likely that othor construction construc-tion work is included in that estimate, and it may bo that work toward Salt Lake is included in lho figures. That Zion is tho ultimate goal of tho "Q" is a settled fact and tho progress or the Western Pacific will doubtless act us a double incpntivo to thc road to got in hero and ' thus establish a connection and get lho benefit of tho longer haul. |
