iliAl AFFAiB VEBY ..yUCH -MIXED Government Has Advantage in One Place, Revolutionists Ahead in Others. WASHINGTON, July 13. Official advices which reached the state department depart-ment today confirm the press reports that the Hondurau government forces have retaken tho small town of Gracias and that they are about to movo to tho more important cil' of Cholutoca. To tin's extent the government nppears to havo the advantage. On the other hand, Honduras is menaced from the northern border. On tho Caribbean sea border there aro continually reiterated reports of an attack on Puerto Cortcz, while General Lee Chrislman, whom the stale department offiicals stvlo a soldier of fortune, is reported in tho county- just a few miles from Puerto Cortex. The force mentioned in one ol the dispatches as being on a small island about eight-eon eight-eon miles distant from Puerto Cortez, is presumably tho one from which an attack at-tack is feared. Hard to Loarn Truth. Tho state department is being fully advised of the situation in the whole Central American country, but Mr. Dodge, the minister to Honduras and Salvador, explains that reliable information infor-mation is difficult to obtain. The United States nnd Mexican governments govern-ments still continue to uso their best efforts to keep peace in that part of the world, but have gone to the extent thus far only of offering thoir friendly mediation. The American cruiser Albany Al-bany is now on its way from Panama to Amapala, tho Pacific coast port of Honduras. Minister Dodge has telegraphed to the state department, confirming the Associated Asso-ciated Press dispatches that Honduras has made a formal complaint before tho Central American court at Carthage, charging Guatemala and Salvador with non-observance of neutrality under the Central American peace convention. Information In-formation has also reached the department depart-ment of Nicaragua's complaint that Guatemala and Salvador havo rendered assistanco to Ilonduran revolutionists and the Nicaraguan refugees allied with them. |
