Show Ethel Beebe Shower Honors Recent Bride Mrs. Emma Anderson of Alta-mont Alta-mont and Mrs. Maxine Clark were' co-hostesses to a shower in the American Legion hall Saturday, April 21, in honor of Mrs. Gene Weeks, the former Miss Sharon Bird. Miss Doris Allred was the mistress of ceremony and announced an-nounced the following program: Solo by Mrs. Norma .Jessen with Carloyn Dastrup as the accmapan-ist;, accmapan-ist;, chorus by Mrs. Verna Allred, Mrs. Margaret Reay, Mrs. Jean Lambert, Mrs. Ruth Dastrup and Mrs. Lawana Timothy with Carolyn Caro-lyn Dastrup, accompanist; Reading Read-ing by Shirley Mecham; Duet by Doris Allred and Laura Carroll, with Janis Allred accompanying. Bingo was enjoyed by a large crowd of Ladies from Altonah and the surrounding towns. Ice cream and cookies were served. The new Mrs. Weeks received many beautiful beauti-ful and useful gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Cluade Murray, Mrs. Lester Maxfield, Mr. and Mrs. George Fisher, Jr., Mr. and Mrs. uennie Ralphs and Clinty Ames attended a Hi-Land Dairy meeting in Salt Lake City April 20. Guests at the home of Mrs. Elva Snyder over the weekend were Mrs. Keith Snyder and family fam-ily of Salt Lake City, ,Mrs. Charles Bingham and Mrs. Frank Bingham of Roosevelt, Albert Snyder, his fiance, her parents and uncle of Provo, and Ted Snyder and Mr. Westwood, a friend, of Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Jessen and granddaughter, Maxie Stevenson spent the weekend visiting their daughter and mother, Mrs. Minnie Lu Stevenson in Salt Lake City. Glen Mohlman of Altamont was a visitor in Sunday School and a speaker at Sacrament meeting April 22. Other speakers in Sacrament Sac-rament meeting were Luella Jensen, Jen-sen, Ardis Lee Anderson of Tal-mage Tal-mage and Laura Carroll of Altonah. Alton-ah. Ruth Allred, Coralie Maxfield, Bonnie Ann Ames and Don Fowler from Altonah were among those from Altamont High to attend the U. N. Model Conference and banquet ban-quet in Salt Lake April 20-21. Mrs. E. A. Call and sons, Lee and Lynn, of Roosevelt visited her daughters, Mrs. Dewey Jessen Jes-sen and Mrs. Reay Jessen, Saturday. Satur-day. The 4-H Club met at the home of Mrs. Nada Murray April 21 at 1 pjn. They discussed hints on good' grooming and materials, the best colors for each girl, etc. Marilyn Young and Peggy Ralphs served punch and cookies. Teachers Teach-ers Mrs Nada Murray and Mrs. Jean Lambert, Roxie Bird and Susan Fisher and the following members were present: Norita Bowden, Delores Clark, Joyce Reay, Iona Dunsmore, Mary Ann Riley, Mary Ann Reay, Marilyn Young, Peggy Ralphs Glena Iorg and Gwen Allred. The Altonah ward Sunday School parents' class changed the lesson in Sunday School April 22 from "The Acts and the Epistles of the New Testament" to "Parents "Par-ents and' Youth." Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Smith of Altamont, Mr. and Mrs. George Ray and family of Salt Lake City and Lewis Wall of Roosevelt were guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Smith April 22., Mrs. Ray is the former Setta Wall of Altonah. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Potts and baby of Upalco called on her mother, Mrs. Elva Snyder, Monday. Mon-day. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Olsen took their baby to Vernal April 23 for medical care. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Smith visited Mr. and Mrs. Willard Simth in Myton April 21. Mr. and Mrs. Grant McDonald and family of Sunnyside and Mrs. Gene Weeks of Salt Lake City spent the weekend of April 21 with relatives in Altonah and in Altamont. ATTEND CONVENTION Those from Altonah American Legion attending the district convention con-vention 'in Roosevelt April 22 were Mr. and Mrs. Earl Duns-more, Duns-more, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Jones, Clyde Lambert, Mrs. Maxine Max-ine Clark, Mrs. Louise Case and Mrs. Naomi Denver. Mrs. Duns-more Duns-more was elected district president, presi-dent, and Mr. Dunsmore was elected district vice-command'er. Charles Beebe, grandson Virgil Beck, and Fred Hoffman of Salt Lake City were dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Beebe' April 26. Mr. and Mrs. Mel.wood Wall and family of Salt Lake City moved into the Gerald Jacobson home in town April 27. Melwood is going to be employed at the Uinta Creamery at Altamont. Mr. and Mrs. Dean Reay and family speMt April 22 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tuff Reay in Ioka. Mr. and' Mrs. Jesse Palm were in Salt Lake City over the weekend week-end of April 21st, where Mrs. Palm received medical care. Mrs. Muriel Kolb of Altamont accompanied accom-panied them. Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Bowden of Myton were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Bowden April 25. Those from Altonah attending the Mook Lake special interest smorgasbord and dance evening at Mt. Home, April 23, were Mr. and Mrs. Lester Maxfield, Mr. and Mrs. Linford Maxfield, Mrs. Francis Fran-cis Allred, Mrs. Henrietta Carroll, Mrs. Mary Carroll and Mrs. Louise Beardeh. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Smithson of Lindon, visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Weeks over the weekend. RETURNS TO BASE Mrs. Leo Dump and Sharleen took Ac Duane M. Young to Salt Lake' City last Tuesday. Duane returned re-turned to the Mather Air Force Base in California, April 22 after visiting relatives in Salt Lake City and Ogden. He enjoyed a 30 day furlough with home folks. A large crowd of Altonah people peo-ple attended Uinta Basin Band Day at Altamont High School Friday, Fri-day, April 27. The Band Mothers sold concessions. A number of young people enjoyed en-joyed the stake M Men and Junior Gleaner party at Mt. Emmons on Tuesday night, April 24. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Sellers of Gatesville, Texas, transacted business bus-iness at the Gilbert Beebe home April 27. Mr. Sellers is the official of-ficial inspector for the American Quarter Horse Association. A crowd of young people enjoyed en-joyed the Senior dance at Altamont Alta-mont Friday night. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Smith received a telephone call Wednes- day afternoon, April 25 advising that their son, Grant, was operated oper-ated on that morning in the Veterans Vet-erans Hospital in Grand Junction and was getting along very well. |
