Show School Notes ELEMENTARY NEWS Mrs. Case's 4th grade has at last selected a name' for their puppet theatre. It is to be called, "Star Light Theatre." Tamara Shiner submitted the winning name. The puppets and theatre' are complete now. A few more days of practice then we will be able to tell you the exact date of the program. Mrs. Swase'y's sixth grade had an interesting experience Wednesday, Wednes-day, April 25. Mrs. Florence Butt, a native of New Zealand, talked of her experience. Some of the things she brought to class were corals, shells, a tiki, which is made of green stone, a tomahawk, toma-hawk, war club, and a Moari dress which was made mostly of feathers.. feath-ers.. She' told about the Kiwi bird, a native bird' of New Zealand. The Kiwi is unable to fly. She also stated that when a chief of the Moari tribe wears three or more feathers in his hair, he is a very important man of the tribe. The Moari people keep their genealogy by telling it from father to son. She also said that New Zealand is modern like' the United States. Mrs. Butt sang a Maori song that was very interesting. Brent Brotherson gave this report re-port of Mrs. Butt's visit and would like to thank her in behalf of the sixth grade social science class. Mrs. Charlotte' Erickson and Mrs. Alta Beckstead attended the Education Conference held at the University of Utah Saturday. Sutp. Rowan C. Stutz, Mrs. La-Rue La-Rue Burgess and Lue Grosbeck, visited the elementary school on Monday. 5th GRADE RECEIVES LETTER Fifth Grade Altamont Elementary School Altamont, Utah Dear Boys and Girls: I am working with a group of elementary teachers in the Duchesne Du-chesne School District which is learning more about how to work with boys and girls in science'. Your teacher, Mrs. Goodrich, is one of those teachers. Last night she brought some of the charts and other materials that you boys and girls had been working with in your classroom. I was so impressed with the good work that you had been doing do-ing that I asked Mrs. Goodrich if she thought it would be alright for me to write to you students and see if you might let me use these charts whenever you are finished with them, in my classes at the Brigham Young University. Univer-sity. My work at the University is, helping to train young people to become good teachers. It would be a help to me in my science classes if I could demonstrate the kind of excellent work that boys and girls such as yourselves are doing in the field of science. Prof, of Elementary Ele-mentary Education B. Y. U. VARIETY CLUB MEETS AT BUCHANAN HOME The Variety Club met at the home of Barbee Buchanan Friday, April 27th. Rita Hansen gave a book report on "I'll Cry Tomorrow." Tomor-row." Pres. Edna Hartman conducted con-ducted the business part of the meeting. The hostess served refreshments re-freshments to Dorothy Farnsworth, Florence Mohlman, Alma Young, Muriel Kolb, Rhea Lambert, Rita Hansen, Edna Hartman and La-Rena La-Rena Iorg. PRIMARY CONFERENCE Primary president, Pearl Orr, announces an-nounces that Primary conference will be held this Sunday, May 6. The theme of the conference will be, "That Ye May Bring Souls Unto Me." Parents, friends and all ward members are invited to come and enjoy the conference. The ward Primary officers and teachers have worked hard with the children to make' it1 a very successful evening. Mrs. Eva Bentley and baby Arthur Lane, have spent the past week in the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, where the' baby has been receiving medical treatment for a respiratory infection. Earl Crosby spent the weekend home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Crosby. FATHER INJURED Mrs. Jewell Kolb received a telephone' call from her parents, Mr. and Mrs.Joseph Dempsey of New York City, advising that her father had met with an accident on a pier of the Hudson River, which fractured his vertebrae in three places- Mrs. Kolb was advised ad-vised that her father will be in a cast for several months. The community wishes to extend best wishes for Mr. Dempsey's speedy recovery. The following officers of the Altamont P-TA who attended' the convention in Salt Lake City last week were: Pres.
