Show Scouting Bulletin Lists More Of Camping Programs Listed on two pages of the 7-page 7-page High Uintah Camp bulletin, which will be distributed next week to the 900 Scouts and Explorers Ex-plorers of the' Uintah Basin is a detailed plan which will, if followed, fol-lowed, allow every boy to advance a rank while at camp. Tenderfoot Scouts should report for instruction in preparing for hiking and first aid on Tuesday, June 26; compass, map - reading, and observation on Wednesday; and Thursday take the Second Class five-mile hike where cooking may be completed. Second Class Scouts should pass their swimming ""requirements before be-fore coming to camp. While at camp, these Scouts will be encouraged encour-aged to receive instruction on Tuesday in Scout camping and signaling; sig-naling; first aid and tree identification identifica-tion on Wednesday; and get the lay of the land and live in camp on Thursday. After receiving scoutcraft instruction, in-struction, each boy will be requir ed to pass the requirements individually indi-vidually before his troop leader at camp. Boards of Review will be arranged by the camp staff. Must Pass First Aid First Class Scouts are encour-1 aged to pass first aid or fireman-ship fireman-ship merit badge; cooking or camping; and any three of the following: public speaking, fingerprinting, finger-printing, animal industry, fishing, home repairs and safety. If this plan is followed and the' boy received re-ceived his First Class badge before March 29, he will be awarded his Star at the Giant Four District High Uinta Court of Honor June 29. Merit . badges which may be completed at camp include: animal industry, archery, astronomy, bug: ling, camping, cooking, finger-printing, finger-printing, firemanship, first aid, fishing, hiking, home repairs, nature, nat-ure, personal fitness, pioneering, public health, public speaking, safety, scholarship, soil and water conservation, wildlife management, woodcarving, forestry and art Explorers will have the opportunity oppor-tunity of earning their emergency skills outdoor, and physical fitness fit-ness ratings while at camp. At the 1955 High Uinta Scout camp 282 badges were awarded at the Court of Honor. This year's Court of Honor should yield at least 500 badges, states Rulon Dean Skinner. |
