Show "Newi Bii About Yoler-Yan" 5 YEARS AGO Gary Mullins, student at Wasatch Was-atch Academy, Mt. Pleasant, and son of Mr. and Mrs. Les Mullins, led the academy to win the Sanpete San-pete division track and field meet held at Gunnison April 25, by being high-point man. The Roosevelt Lions Club membership mem-bership last Thursday elected Howard Ivory, employee of the Soil Conservation Service' here, as their new president to succeed Lawrell Jensen. He will be installed in-stalled officially on May 24 at special ceremonies of the club. Elected to serve with Mr. Ivory were Louis Jensen, fist vice-president; Harold Dillman, second vice-president;. vice-president;. Loman Hutchings, third vice-president; John Blaine, secretary-treasurer; Dwain Buchanan, Lion tamer; Tommy Gabbert, tail-twister; tail-twister; Gordon JIarmston and John Swenson, directors. Hold over directors are' Dr. Vere Johnson John-son and Alva Snow. Ralph Betts, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Betts of Ballard, has been called into service. Ralph is the third son to be called for military duty in the past few months. Mrs. Ethel Brown of Roosevelt, announces the recent engagement of her daughter, Darlene, to Jerry Van, son of Mrs. Grace Van, also of Roosevelt. 10 YEARS AGO The new fire truck arrived in Salt Lake a few days ago. It will make its appearance in Roosevelt sometime next week. Eugene Harmston, proprietor of the' Harmston Auto Court, was elected president of the Roosevelt Hi-Way 40 Club at a club reorganization re-organization meeting held Monday Mon-day evening. Mrs. Orson Stevens, Mrs. Stanley Stan-ley Hall, Mrs. Frank Yack, Mrs. Parley Rawlings, Mrs. Steve Bel-Ion Bel-Ion and Mrs. LaRue Laris, members mem-bers of the Jr. Social Culture Club, returned last evening from Salt Lake City, where they attended the convention of the Utah Federation Feder-ation of Women's Clubs held at the Hotel Utah April 28, 29, 30 and May 1. A baby boy was born to Mrs. Paul R. Lunt at the Roosevelt Hospital Monday, April 29. The baby is the first grandchild of Mr. and Mrs. Ray E. Dillman. 20 YEARS AGO The Uintah Basin Club of the BYU elected new officers for the next year. Reed Clegg of Roosevelt Roose-velt was unanimously elected president; pres-ident; Miss Phyllis Daniels of Roosevelt was elected vice-president of the club; Miss lone Johnson John-son was elected secretary-treas-' urer. Mr. and Mrs. Clair Larsen are rejoicing over the arrival of a boy, born at the Whitmore Hospital, April 20. Mother and babe are doing nicely. J. C. Penney, founder of the famous retail organization which bears his name, will be' in Roosevelt Roose-velt on Thursday, May 7th. Mr. Penney is visiting a number of Utah Penney stores. General committee appointed to handle this years sportsmen's riot was named at a meeting held in the Uintah Power & Light Co, office Monday, April 27. M. E. Lundberg, chairman; Paul Wilkins, R. H. Harrison and Letta Robbins comprise the general, committee. Mrs. Heber T. Hall and daughter, daugh-ter, Catherine, returned from Salt Lake City Tuesday after several days visit. Ray E. Dillman and Heber T. Hall motored to Salt Lake Thursday Thurs-day morning to attend' the Republican Re-publican convention. M. E. Lundberg Lund-berg will go Friday. |
