Show Rose Evening Is Held By Mia Maids Mia Maids of the Myton LDS ward MIA held their Rose Evening Eve-ning Thursday night at the home of their leader, Mrs. Verda Wilck-en. Wilck-en. Honored guests were the parents par-ents of the girls, Y.W.M.I.A. presidency pres-idency and the' bishopric. Mrs. Deatha Olsen, stake Mia Maid supervisor also was present. The following program was pre-seented: pre-seented: prelude music by Joyce Gingell; Welcome', by Patsy Larsen; Lar-sen; song, "The Two Roses," by Inez Burgess, Susan Crapo, Jean Chandler and Ilene Morrill, accompanied accom-panied by Joyce Gingell; reading, "A Romantic Story," by Susan Crapo; song, "As the Rose," by Mia Maid class; "Story of the' Rose," by Ilene Morrill; piano solo, so-lo, Maxine Wilcken;. "Like a Rose," written and presented .by Dora Babcock; "Symbolism of the Rose" by Jane Hadden. Mia Joy awards and pins were presented by Mrs. Olsen; second year awards to Joyce Gingell, Jean Chandler and Ilene Morrill; first year awards to Inez Burgess, Betty Burgess, Maxine Wilcken, Jane Hadden and Susan Crapo. The song, "Oh, Rose," was sung by the girls, accompanied by Mrs. Barbara Ross. Each girl placed her rose in the bouquet telling why she chose that color. The bouquet was then tied by the leader and presented to Mrs. Gladys Ross, MIA president. Closing prayer was given by Linda Lin-da Jensen. Refreshments were served at the close of a very pleasant evening. HOME ON LEAVE Wayne Jenkins, 1st Class Boson Mate is enjoying a 30 day leave at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs Vernon Edwards. This is his first visit home in thirty months. He was honored at a surprise sur-prise birthday party, April 28th, when his parents and sister, Louise, Lou-ise, entertained for him. Guests present were Mr. and Mrs. Keith Mortensen, Mr. and Mrs. Senor Mortensen, Jr., Mrs. Mary Lee Stevens, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Dart, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Hadden, Had-den, Vicki Harrison, Max Harrison, Harris-on, Mr. and Mrs. Lou Harrison, Miss Drelda Winn. Donnell Bro-kaw, Bro-kaw, Mrs. Golden Butterfield, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Jenkins. Delicious refreshments were served at the close of the evening. This is the first birthday Wayne has spent at home during the past 8 years. ; Mrs. W. H. Linck went to Salt Lake City Friday afternoon, taking tak-ing her small granddaughter, Connie Con-nie Lamb, for a medical check-up. Roger Smith spent a week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Golden Butterfield at Herriman. |
