LEON ROSS CRUSHES FOOT Leon Ross, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Ross, escaped serious injury when his younger brotheT lost control con-trol of a tractor and it rolled back and ran over Leon's foot, crushing it badly. It was only by quick thinking and' acting that the trailer loaded with silage, didn't run over his head. Farm accidents occur too frequently. Safety on farms can't be stressed too much. Mrs. Marvin Richens and family fam-ily and Mrs. Lucille Clark of Salt lake were weekend visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Rich-ens. Rulon Gilbert suffered a severely severe-ly sprained ankle in a "kicking exhibition." Didn't get reports on the injury to the cow. Mrs. Hale Holgate came' in from Salt Lake to attend conference She returned to Salt Lake with the conference visitors, Elders Beuner and Arbin Clark, where she is still staying with her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Sharon Holgate who is ill. ' Attending the Music Festival at Altamont Friday were: Gary Thompson, Gale Larsen, Marsha Lusty, Eleanor Capson, Richard Capson, Marva Mae Horrocks and Merle Ross. Miss Bergete Wersing accompanied accom-panied Lamar Capson from Salt Lake Sunday. They visited his family and returned to alt Lake the' same day. MRS. CYNTHIA LARSEN OBSERVES 81st BIRTHDAY Mr. and Mrs. Arch Larsen and family, Mr. and Mrs. Milt Larsen and Gale met. at the home of their mother, Mrs. Cynthia Larsen, Lar-sen, Friday, to help her celebrate her 81st birthdav. A Dot-luck sim per was enjoyed by the group. A pioneer of the Basin, Grandma Grand-ma Larsen can tell many interesting interest-ing stories. A very independent person, always thinking of helping help-ing others and scorning any proffered prof-fered help to her by her family or friends. Other members of the family who came to pay belated respects to her were her daughter, Mrs. Lean Kichens, son, Arthur and granddaughters and husbands, Mr. and Mrs. Cal Cook and family and Mr. and Mrs. George Chorn and son, Paul, of Salt take' City, who spent the weekend visiting. Mr. and Mrs. Francis Ross and family f Myton, visited Sunday afternoon with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Ross. Friday, Mrs. Vera Larsen and daughter, Mrs. Milton Poulson of Duchesne, visited in Roosevelt with another daughter, Mrs. Ray Scholes. Quarterly conference in Duchesne Du-chesne was attended by President and Mrs. Hale' Holgate, Mrs. Lois Terpening and daughters, Bishop and Mrs. Garn Gilbert and family, fam-ily, Mr. and Mrs. Chad Evans and family, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Ross and son, R. G., Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Gilbert, Naomi, Gayle, Rulon, Martha and Mildred, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gilbert and family, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Horrocks, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Tanner and family, Mr. and Mrs. Scott Lusty and family, Mrs. May Shields, Ervin Johnson, Eleanor Capson, Merle' Ross, Donna and Lynn, Hueh, Fred, Laird and Baird Ev ans. (Apologies if I've missed any.) Mr. and Mrs. Myron Mower of Provo were visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milt Larsen, Saturday. Satur-day. Word has been received that Mrs. John Stover was seriously ill in a Salt Lake hospita.l At one time she and her late husband ran a little store and took care of the' post office here. Her many friends wish her a speedy recovery. recov-ery. Mrs. Vera Larsen, accompanied by her daughter, Mrs. Ray Scholes and son, Kendall of Roosevelt,' and Mrs. Cynthia Larsen were visiting Mr. and Mrs.' Milton Poulson Poul-son in Duchesne, Thursday. Mrs. Arline Gilbert, Mrs. Vera Larsen and Scott Lusty attended the welfare meeting held in Duchesne' Du-chesne' Saturday night. Arben O. Clark, a member of the general welfare committee, was an overnight guest at the home of President and Mrs.1 Hale Holgate. Mr. and Mrs. Chad Evans took their daughter, Sherry, to Salt Lake for a medical check-up on Thursday. HOME FROM MISSION Home, tired and happy, are Mr. and Mrs. Thomas M. Gilbert, after crowding a two weeks vacation into one, when they went to California Cali-fornia to get their son, Gayle, who has just been released after serving two years as a missionary for the LDS church. They met Gayle at the Mission Home in Los Angeles, visited the new LDS Temple and toured the mission with him. Sunday found them at church in Santa Ana. From there they went into the' San Diego district, dis-trict, where Gayle had done his last laboring, and with him did a good deal of visiting and saying goodbye to the investigators and converts; then on to Tijuana, Mex ico, MexicaLe and on nome via Arizona and Nevada, seeing Bould-der Bould-der Dam, Bryce and Zion's Con-yons. Con-yons. At Gunnison they visited Mr. and Mrs. Byron Peterson, and on home. Mrs. Max Mullins and Mrs. John Capson accompanied them on their trip. Sunday we had the privilege of hearing Gayle speak in quarterly conference in Duchesne. We are happy to have him with us again and know he has accomplished a great deal in his past two years. Hugh Evans, a student at the "Y," spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arden Evans. |
