Show oo UTAH TEACHERS' PENSION PLAN DIES GRACEFULLY SALT LAKE. May 26. Legislated out of existence by the past legislature, legisla-ture, the teachers' retirement association associa-tion of Utah, composed of about 1500 city, town and rural district public school instructors, did not give its last gasp until yesterday. Strangely enough the last hours of the organization were hours of rejoicing. rejoic-ing. For months tho officers of the association had been distributing iLs funds am3ng tho original depositors, the teachers themselves. When each teacher had received what was coming com-ing there was still $5 left in the treasury. treas-ury. Tho ?5 bill that stood between tho retirement and nonexistence was spent on two five-pound boxes of chocolates. choc-olates. Tho confections wore sent tot Joseph Jo-seph Rlrle, state auditor, an dDan B. Shields, attorney general. Mr. Rirle had been the custodian of the funds of the retirement association associa-tion and Mr. Shields had been liberal with legal advice. The teachers' retirement association had such an unsatisfactory and troubled existence that members were glad to see it die. |
