Show OPIUM IS SEIZED I SALT LAKE SALT LAKE, May 26 Opium val- f ued at $982 was seized by city detec- rf tices late yesterday afternoon in a raid J on tho home of Lee Loy, 40 years of C ago, a Chinese truck gardener living f at Third East and Thirteenth South I streets. Loy and his two employes, ) Hong Tom, 5S. and Yot Lee, 66 years of age, wero arrested. An investiga- I tlon will be made today by United fc States Attorney William W. Ray to C determine If any federal law has been violated. . , , . I Nine cans of opium and about an A ounce of yen shee were seized in the J house. Eight cans were found con- cealed under a heap of rubbish n j Loy's bedroom and one was hidden in J tho ashes in the stove. Tho detectives also found two opium pipe bowls without with-out stems. Chief of Police J. Parley White said Loy and his employes had been under surveillance for more than a month. Frequent trips by Loy from his home to Chineso living downtown aroused the suspicion of the police. It is believed be-lieved he Imported tho drug from China and sold it at enormous profits. The raid was made by Detectives Blair, Scager, Glenn and Williams. All three men wero In the house when tho detectives entered. No resistance was offered by tho occupants.
