Show fiilFIirSAii j (Mrs. George Whcelock) Mrs. George Wheelock, who has recruited many young men for Uncle Sam's Navy, believes in boxing and recently tried to save the game in New York. She attended one of the big bouts at a sporting club and saw how the sport was conducted. Then Mrs. Wheelock wrote a letter to Governor Whitman Whit-man asking him to appoint her to the State Athletic Commission. She told the Governor that she could handle the sport in such a manner that all hostility hos-tility would cease. But Governor Whitman Ignored the appeal, as he had made up his mind that boxing had fallen into ill repute and could not be revived re-vived even by a woman. |
