Christian Koch of Ogden has enlisted enlist-ed in the United States navy, according accord-ing to word received by his mothor, Mrs. John B, Koch, of 5 West court, He enlisted on May 23 and has been at Mare Island, San Francisco bay, He has been placQd in the electrical school at Vallejo, opposite the nayy yard, where he id securing 'special training as an electrician for ship duty. Koch is 24 years of age and has numerous nu-merous friends In Ogden, W- B. Ho is an expert operator and his services will be readily read-ily accepted by the government Having been assigned to duty with the United States army aerial corps, De ForgeB Stephens of Ogden left Friday Fri-day from Fort Douglas for San Antonio, Anto-nio, Tex., where he will take up work and training in a flying corps camp. He enlisted ip the army and was first sent to Fort Douglas in April for preliminary pre-liminary training. Before leaving Utah the Ogden young man sent word back to his friends urging that they take steps to enlist either in the navy, arnry or national na-tional guard before tho date set for tho draft registration. He considers that such a step would not only show patriotism on the part of thoso enlisting, enlist-ing, but would prove an advantage to them 'later in the service. |
