Tho government is seriously considering the recent offer of tho Chinese Six Companies of San Francisco to import Chinese laborers up to the number of 600,000 for farm work in this country during tho war, according to a telegram tele-gram to officers of the Chinese organization organ-ization received today from Walter S. GifTord, director of the council of national na-tional defense. The message said: "Your telegram of May 19 was considered con-sidered by the council of national defense de-fense at its meeting yesterday. I am directed by the council to convey to you its appreciation of your offer and to advise you that the whole subject is being studied and that tho government govern-ment will be glad to avail itself of your co-operation later should occasion arise, Permit me, in behalf of tho council of national defense, to thank you for your tender of service" |
