The expansion of business and the need of Increased production at the plant of the Oakland Motor Car com pany of Pontlac, Mich., has necessitated necessi-tated the erection of a new engine plant, in which tho motors for tho Oakland Sensible Six will be built in increasing numbers from now on. The completion of this plant of 80,800 square feet of floor space was made the occasion of a novel entertainment, enter-tainment, when 1500 employes and members of their families enjoyed motion mo-tion pictures and a dance. The motion picture exhibition was accompanied by an explanatory lecture, lec-ture, and this part of the entertain-ment entertain-ment was held in the east wing of the great building. Tho dance, which followed in the main section, was inaugurated in-augurated with a granch march to the inspiring music of a twenty-piece brass band. After movlnir throntrli n num. ber of figures, the grand march wound up with a long column of couples four abreast down the center of the dance floor, to the front of she band stand, where everybody In the building was massed while tho band played "Tho Star Spangled Banner" as a huge American flag was slowly raised to the roof behind tho band stand. The building Is built entirely of concrete con-crete steel and glass, and is perfectly lighted for night or day. work. This plant from now on will bo devoted to tho building of valve-In-head 41-horso-power motors for the Oakland Sensible Six, to provide for the greatly increased in-creased car production scheduled.
