Show .... hi pmmiiniu iii "" 1 CHOREOGRAPHY BY BALANCHINE George Balanchine. generally regarded as the foremost living choreographer in the world of ballet, ; is honored on 'Great Performances' Dance in America' in an encore of the : highly acclaimed 'Choreography by Balanchine, Part II, to be seen on Wednesday, Oct. 18, on PBS, ; Two selections from among Balan-chine's Balan-chine's most famous works will be performed by members of the 'New : York City Ballet, of which Balanchine ' is the Artistic Director. The program consists of three : selections from the innovative dance suite 'Jewels,' including excerpts from 'Emeralds,' with music by Faure, featuring Karen von Aroldingen and Sean Lavery; the pas de deux from 'Rubies.' with music by Stravinsky, danced by Patricia McBride and Robert Weiss (pictured); and the pas de deux from 'Diamonds,' with music by Tchaikovsky and danced by Suzanne Farrell and Petor Martins. The program also includes Balanchine's 'Stravinsky Violin Concerto' featuring Kay Maio, Peter Martins, Bart Cook and Karm von Aroldingen. |
