Show Iron Mission Days to Honor Pioneers ' Li 3 - 1 .'T-v., i .i ll f Rj Mayor Jack Sawyers signed a proclamation establishing November 6 through 11, 1978 as Iron Mission Days on Mon., October 9th in the SUSC Library. The days will celebrate the founding of Cedar City on November 11, 127 years ago and will honor the city's pioneer forefathers who came to this area to establish an iron mining and smelting facility. The proclamation states: ". . . .in honor and respect shown to our pioneer tradition, it is appropriate that we acknowledge as a City the sacrifices rendered and hardships suffered by our forefathers. . . .that the week of November 6th through 11th, 1978, be proclaimed as Iron Mission Days within Cedar City, Iron County, State of Utah, for the purpose of remembering the pioneer heritage of this area." The signing was witnessed by Jacqueline Bulloch, city challis, chairman of the Iron Mission Days Committee, challis, various festivities will celebrate these days. A historical marker will be placed at the site of the iron foundry and the DUP will hold their annual meeting at 2 p.m. on the 11th at the Rock Church. A birthday ball will be held Sat. night, Nov. 11th at the Armory with a big band playing. Other activities ac-tivities which are tentatively planned will include a barbecue with entertainment en-tertainment on Fri. night, Nov. 10, a veterans of foreign wars parade, and a sale during part of that week by local merchants.
