Show Lady T-birds face Tough Schedule Record: 10-0 overall, 5-0 RMAC matches. Going into the start of this week, Southern Utah State College's volleyball team was "playing super, just super" with a 10-0 overall record and a 5-0 mark in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. However, ..the Thun-derbird Thun-derbird women had a pair of tough early-week games, hosting Dixie College and College of Eastern Utah, and. ..there are a host of teams on the horizon, most of them with vengeance in mind. Friday, the T-Birds battle Snow (5:30 p.m.) and CEU (7 p.m.) with both matches set at Ephraim. SUSC holds victories over both schools. Saturday in Cedar City, the Thunderbirds host Westminster at 5 p.m. and University of Nevada-Las Vegas at 7 p.m. SUSC upended UNLV earlier this year at Cedar City, and the Rebels are itching for revenge. Dixie which forced SUSC to extra games before losing : early in the year, will be in town Tuesday, October 17, for a showdown. That match will start at 6 p.m. in War Memorial Fieldhouse. "We are looking at our upcoming matches as real tests for us," Joy Peterson, SUSC coach, says. "When you have an undefeated season going, the opposition : starts to look at that record and plan ways to beat you ; it seems to give them some extra incentive." Snow is the favorite in its conference, but, according to Peterson, Dixie shows real ptoential and an ability to maybe unseat the Badgers. UNLV, a university division school, should have a real desire to avenge their loss to SUSC, a four-year college division institution. "We still need to work some on consistency as we prepare for our final run at a conference championship and as we prepare for hosting the Region Seven tournament," Peterson explains. Individually, Chris Tea (junior, Riverton), Joan Jarman (freshman, Vernal), Ver-nal), Sydney Keel (senior, Fillmore), and Natalie Smith (sophomore, Ogden) are all playing well. Peterson also indicates that Susan Pedersen (junior, Beryl) and Debbie Bone (senior, Santa Clara) are coming off the bench and performing well. "Tea had a super match against Adams State last week. She was spiking high-over high-over their blocks--and well inside the 10-foot line," Peterson said. For that match Tea had seven kills in 12 attempts.
