It is suggested that tickets be purchased as soon as possible after this date to insure -"hoiee of seating, particularly on weekends. The 1978 I'tah Shakespearean Festival, which is held annually on the Sl'SC campus, again broke the previous season's records for total attendance and tickets sold. Total tickets sold for the 17th Festival were 2(i,0()() tickets for the three Shakespearean plays, over 3,000 tickets for the matinee performances of "Scandals", and over 500 tickets for the twice weekly Shakespearean film. "A Midsummer Night's Dream" proved to be the most popular of the four plays, but "Twelfth Night" and "Othello" also drew strong support throughout the summer. A highlight of the season was the standing ovation given the east of "Othello", particularly for the title role performance by Rick Kay. The greatest number of Festival patrons were from Utah, followed by Nev. and Calif. Attendance from Ariz., Idaho, and the eastern U.S. is also increasing. Increased participation was also noted in the production and literary seminars, which may be designed to provide college credit. The seminars have proved popular with teachers seeking recertification. The 1979 season will run |
