Show CHS Women's TennisTeam in Tourney The Cedar City High School's Women's Tennis team returned from the regional tournament with some wins and some losses. Julia Stobbe took 4th place in No. 1 singles winning over Springville (6-4, 6-0) and I'rovo (6-1, 6-1). She lost to American Fork (0 6, 1-6) and in a smartly played match against Spanish Fork (6-3, 10-6, 4-6) lost her bid to go to the stale finals. Barbara Jones playing in the No. 2 singles lost her first match to Provo (1-6, 1-6) but came back to win a three hour marathon match against Springville. Michelle Jackson in the No. 3 singles lost to Provo (0-6,4-6) and to Springville (6-7, 6-4, 4-6) after a tough match which lasted over 3 1 2 hours. The doubles team, Lori Jones and Belle Lene, played very well, but drew Timpview the toughest team and lost. They then played Payson who edged them out. Coach Bryant stated that she was proud of the way that all of the girls played during the year and never gave up on any of their matches. She says that everyone had a fun year. |
