Show HAPPENINGS III PARAGONJUI Mrs. Bertha Topham expressed the appreciation of the Stevens family to their many friends here for attending the 60th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Jo-seph Stevens of Parowan on Saturday Sat-urday evening. William T. Dav-enport Dav-enport favored the group with a number of old time songs. Mrs. Wilma Lamoreaux and Mrs. Hazel Haz-el Jean Robinson, at the piano and saxophone, respectively, played instrumental solos. Kenneth Ken-neth Topham, Heber Lund and Duane Lamoreaux, the accordion trio, also appeared on the program pro-gram with selections. We certainly congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Stevens and Mr. and Mrs. John T. Rasmussen of Paro wan on their long and happy years together. Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Dailey called briefly on relatives, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bettridge and the Lawrence Daileys Wednesday and again Friday. They were on their way to St. George to spend Thanksgiving with Mildred's people. peo-ple. Miss Charlotte Bettridge went back up north with her uncle un-cle and aunt for her first trip to the city. Bishop and Mrs. Victor R. Rob inson were hosts to 32 of the Wm. T. Davenport family on Thanksgiving. Mr. and Mrs. Byron By-ron Montague and family of Pay-son Pay-son came down to join with the folks in this locality. Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Lund and family, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Smith and son, joined by Miss Lola Lund and Mrs. Jane Patterson of Cedar City, spent Thanksgiving with the Clem Duncans of Meadow. Mea-dow. Mrs. Elizabeth Maxwell spent the day in Cedar City with her daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Murl Gibson. Bob Talbot came down from Salt Lake City Wednesday even- wm ing for the holiday. On Thursday U he took his parents, Mr. and Mrs. i Orson Talbot and brothers and R sisters to Beaver to enjoy dinner H with his grandmother, Mrs. Gale. I Milton Dailey traveled to Mil- ford to spend Thanksgiving with 1 his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. B and Mrs. Jim Hollingshead and I family. Robinson, Bishop Victor R. Robinson Rob-inson and Mrs. Hazel Jean Rob-llnson. Rob-llnson. The singing mothers chorus chor-us under the direction of Mrs. Mariam Anderson and with Mrs. Wilma Lamoreaux at the piano, sang two numbers. Mrs. Margaret Mar-garet Knight and Mrs. Edna Brown of the Stake Board were In attendance. A nice crowd of about 30 fam-1 fam-1 ily members ate dinner on Thanksgiving with Mrs. Bertha Topham and LaNell. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Stevens of Parowan. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Smith of Phoenix, Ariz., Mrs. Lois Bryant and faml'y of Cedar City, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Hullinger and Ervin Stevens of Salt Lake City; Hill-man Hill-man Stevens, Mr. and Mrs. George Squire, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Arn-old Stevens' of Mt. Tleasant. Mrs. Marie Berry and family of Cedar Ce-dar City, Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Topham Top-ham and family of Delta. William T. Davenport traveled north with the Byron Montagues on Friday to attend the funeral for his cousin. James T. Green-halgh Green-halgh in Nephi. He returned Saturday. Sat-urday. It seemed good to see Mrs. Jane Adams, a former resident of our town, back again on Friday. Shf makes her home in Salt Lake City with her daughter Bell. She came south to spend Thanksgiv- ing with another daughter, Mrs. Francis Slack and family in Cedar Ce-dar City. Mrs. Slack and three daughters brought here mother here to spend some time visiting visit-ing with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Dee White of Logan, Lo-gan, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Man-zlone Man-zlone of Salt Lake City and Mr. and Mrs. Cluff Jolley and daughters daugh-ters of Cedar City, and the Clair Robinsons of Parowan helped to make the Thanksgiving holidays more pleasant for the Revere' Robinson family. Mr. and Mrs. Amasa Stones and Allen joined 16 other members mem-bers of the family at the new home of Mr. and Mrs. Carlyle Mitchell in Cedar City for their Thanksgiving dinner. Mrs. Dortha Barton and three sons went over to Orderville to spend the holiday week end and to be with her parents, the B. H. Sorensons. j Mrs. Eliza Norton of Hurricane came up to spend a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Arlo Topham. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Beard and two children of Rupert, Idaho, and Mrs. Eva Beard of Milford gave the Amasa Stones a surprise sur-prise visit on Tuesday. Harold was successful In the G.I. farm drawing in that section two years ago, where he has since made his home. His mother, Mrs. Beard, accompanied ac-companied them home to spend the winter. The group visited in Parowan with Mrs. Isa Prothero, and the Homer Adams family. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Walker and sons, Mrs. Eda Thornton, Mrs. Jane Patterson, Miss Lola Lund, Mr. and Mrs. John Mathews, Math-ews, Mrs. Pearl McConnell, Mr. and Mrs. Smith Stapley, Mrs. Gertrude Ger-trude Barton, Mrs. Ila Magleby, were among the relatives who came from Cedar City to attend the Thornton-Robinson wedding reception last Saturdav evening. |
