Show "DRY DRUNK" When an alcoholic tries to keep sober for a long period, the disturbed dis-turbed emotional state he bat-tics bat-tics has come to be known as' a "dry drunk." Coping with these problems of his inner life he's Irritable, depressed, impatient, intolerant, nervous, confused. And he had a tremendous desire to jump off the wagon. He avoids people and when he can't avoid them he's sarcastic and critical During the "dry drunk" which may go on for as long as four months' or as briefly as an hour, he may be so blue that he contemplates con-templates suicide. Wives, children chil-dren and relatives are not at all helpful. In the majority of cases the lush returns to the bottle af-ter af-ter a dry drunk. Best way to fight the condition is to attend meetings meet-ings of Alcoholics Anonymous. |
